In fact they spoke to many of their Malay neighbours and many of them also shared the Indian's views (although the Indian residents admitted to me some Malay residents are in favour of the Surau. I conducted my own survey and all the Malays (10) I spoke to also disagreed on the building of the surau. Of course I would imagine there people who are in favour of the surau)<BR/><BR/>I also sent word to Muslim affairs exco Hassan Ali, that there are alot of people objecting to the building plans. (a majority considering that more than 50% of the residence in that area are Indians) My advise to him was to put any plans on hold and have dialogue with the people first. I was informed that he will handle the matter, but as it turned out he ignored my advise.<BR/><BR/>Although I think Malaysian wave has read too much into the incident, but he is right when he says that Umno is trying to provoke the people.
